Johnny James Dennis Sr., (Papa) 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 28, 2013. He was born on February 23, 1933, to the late Sidney and Mattie Dennis. Johnny was a native of Watley, AL., but was a long time resident of Pensacola, FL. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, a loving son Johnny Jr. and his parents.
Johnny served in the United States Army, and was a Korean War veteran. He was retired from NAS Pensacola (Civil Service) after 42 years of faithful service as a safety specialist.
He attended Pensacola Jr. College, where he received his AA Degree in Business Administration.
Johnny met and married Emma Ruth Gant, and together they raised six children. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
One of his favorite hobbies was fishing, but Johnny had a passion for spreading God's word and being a fisher of men. He was a faithful deacon at New Hope P.B. Church. Johnny was very devoted to the Prison Ministry, until God called him home.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Emma Ruth Dennis; brother Sidney Dennis Jr. of New York State five children: Linda (David) Knight, Brenda Williams, Kathy Dennis, Tammy Dennis and Deborah R. Carter, all of Pensacola, FL.; eleven grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at Zion Hope P.B. Church, on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10A.M. Elder Robert Lovelace will be officiating.
Interment at Barrancas National Cemetery August 2, 2013 at 12:30P.M.
Joe Morris and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

To the Dennis family... Im sorry for your loss. I just found out on today that Mr. Dennis had passed. Im here for you Mrs. Dennis and I want you to know this. I love you and have known you and the family for over 45 plus years. Mr. Dennis was a pillar of the Wedgewood Community where I grew up and I will always cherish those by gone yeas of knowing him. Mrs.Dennis, it is with deep sorrow to learn of your great loss, I am delighted having worked with Johnny as well as you at Supply.
