Curtis William Benbow Jr.
1951-2013
Curtis William Benbow, Jr., age 62 of Pensacola passed away Friday, October 18, 2013. Curtis was born August 4, 1951 to William Curtis Benbow and Irene Benbow in Pensacola, Florida.
He attended schools in the Escambia County School system. Following his attendance at Booker T. Washington High School, he immediately enlisted the United States Army and honorably served his country for two years during the Vietnam War.
Curtis accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Hanniton Watts Post 193.
He was preceded in death by his father William Curtis Benbow. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Irene Benbow; sisters: Irenita Assensoh of New Orleans, LA, Debra (Henry) Morgan, Valerie (Terry) Cope, Marie Modeste of St. Louis, MO; brother, Michael Benbow; thirteen nieces and nephews: Leonita Brooks, Rose & Akwasi Assensoh, Helena & Frazier Wallace Jr., Curtis & Lavelle Marshall, Osmond Golston, Michael Benbow Jr., Jaleese & Janay Cope, Chad & Marissa Modeste, a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Joe Morris Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church at 620 East Jordan Street with Dr. Joseph L. Marshall pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas Nationally Cemetery. Joe Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Sacred Heart Hospital CICU for their excellent care, love, and devotion to Curtis' health while there.
