Darlene Brown McGaugh Seeley

Darlene Brown

McGaugh Seeley

1937 - 2013

Darlene Brown McGaugh Seeley spent the last days of her life at home surrounded by her friends and family. Born on June 6, 1937, she passed away on September 4, 2013 at the age of 76, after battling ovarian cancer.

Darlene grew up in Towson, Maryland, and spent her youth enjoying visits to the eastern shore, crab feasts and spending time with her friends and family. She attended college at UNC Chapel Hill and Milwaukee-Downer College for her undergraduate education and received her master's degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin. She was married to Jerry L. McGaugh at the Naval Academy in 1957. She was a loving mother to their children: Steven, Alan, David, and Jennifer McGaugh.

Darlene spent the latter years of her life as a devoted wife to Leeland Seeley and as a loving grandmother to Angela, Scotty, Allison, Kayleigh McGaugh and Sophia and Grace Giddens. She enjoyed art classes, traveling, and trips to the beach. However, Darlene's favorite hobby was making friends and meeting people. Darlene's capacity for love is a trait we will all remember her by, and we will all miss her dearly.

The family would like to thank Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, Emerald Coast Hospice, Dr. Angela Ziebarth, neighbors, and friends for their kindness and compassion as she battled her illness to the end.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday, September 13th at Rose Lawn Cemetery: 2942 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563. The memorial service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 14th at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563 with a reception to follow in the music suite.
