Lenear Salter Cook


Lenear Salter Cook, 76, passed away gently into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. She was born in Evergreen, Alabama, one of seven children to Alfred and Sara Salter. She graduated from Lyeffion High School near Evergreen, AL and was employed by Chemstrand Corporation, Pensacola, Florida. She left Chemstrand to raise their family and later joined Avon as district manager. Her employment with Avon won her many lifelong friends. Although she had many interests, her family was her life. No obstacle was too high, no distance too far when a family member needed her. She had the love that few are blessed with and always put their care and comfort above her own. She loved wild flowers, birds, and animals. She loved to crochet and weave pine needles and she produced true works of art with her talent.She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Sara Salter; brothers, Alfred, Jr., Haywood and her daughter, Denise Michelle Cook.She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Doug ; son, Johnny (Susan); daughters, Donna Hamby (Keith), Debbi Stewart (John); grandsons, Austin (Alex) and Jarrod; granddaughters, Angela (DJ) and Allyson; great-grandsons, Max and Zander; great-granddaughter, Alaya; brother, Charles (Jackie); sisters, Hazel Holcomb, Shirley Edwards and Betty Saylo (Tom) and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Friday, April 25, 2014. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Cope Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Evergreen, AL.
