Barry Barker Tweedie
Pensacola - Barry B. Tweedie, 68, departed this life on January 4th surrounded by his wife and sister. Barry's 19 years of military service included a tour in Vietnam as a paratrooper for the US Army 82nd Airborne Division. Upon return, he continued to serve in the National Guard as a marksmanship instructor while completing his BS degree in Criminal Justice at UWF. Afterwards, he entered Aviation Officer Candidate School at NAS, Pensacola, earning his Naval Flight Officer Wings of Gold.
Following his shortened military career due to a debilitating injury, Barry found a passion for purchasing and restoring Farm Tractors. He also became actively involved in the ECUA, where he attended meetings, served on the Citizen Advisory Committee, and provided his valuable insights into water and waste management systems.
Barry is preceded in death by his father, Walter, brothers, Bruce and Scott. Barry leaves behind his beloved wife, Paula, mother, Sonya, brother, Steven (Susan Prevatte), sisters, Cynthia (Didi Salmon), Daintry (Ken) Zarzynski, Allyson (Brian) McQuade, and sister-in-laws, Susan (Ben) Duguay, Carol Leary (Peter Hoffman), Beth Leary (Jay Thurber), brother in-law Michael (Ginger) Leary and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6PM on Jan. 8, 2021 at Faith Chapel North. The family will receive friends at 5PM prior to services.
