Daniel Jones Obituary

UntitledDANIEL PATRICK
JONES, SR.
1938 - 2009

Daniel Patrick Jones, Sr., went to be with His lord and Savior on Friday, February 27, 2009. As he passed into Glory peacefully in his sleep, Pat left behind his wife and seven children. He was the beloved husband of Juliette Burgwinkel Jones for 45 years. His seven children are, Cori Jones White (husband Brian White), Mary Beth Jones, Patricia Jones, Daniel Patrick Jones, Jr. (wife Rachel Nadolny Jones) and Sarah Jones; and his coming granddaughter, Corrie Lynn White (due next month). He is also survived by his Uncle AJ Boland and Aunt Olive Boland and many cousins.
Pat was the only son of Ernest Reginald "Rex" Jones and Charlie Olivia Boland Jones, both deceased. He was born at home in Wacissa, Florida, May 24, 1938, and lived in Pensacola most of his life. Pat and Julie met as blind dates at a high school sock hop in Tennessee over 53 years ago, while Pat was attending Sewanee Military Academy. He was an excellent writer and was the first paid editor of the Corsair at Pensacola Junior College in the 1960s. He was proud to serve his country in the Navy for three years before marrying and starting a family. Papa Jones loved to read the Bible and a variety of books; his favorite authors were George MacDonald, Isabella "Pansy" Alden, and G. A. Henty. He was a consummate cook and baker, and was the head bread baker for the family's bakery, Bread of Life Bakery, for ten years. He was a history buff and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in history education. Early on in life, he hunted and fished; more recently he enjoyed playing solitaire and researching new recipes on the internet. He was a stock broker, a bookstore owner, a factory foreman, a carpenter, a remodeling contractor and a bakery owner before lung cancer ended his time here on earth. Pat lived for God and for family. He was honorable and upright and was a devout born-again Christian. He worked hard, loved hard, and was an enormous presence in his family's lives.
Proverbs 10:7 says that "The memory of the righteous is blessed." Papa Jones will be missed, remembered, and loved by his family and friends still here on earth. He is singing "Hallelujah!" with the angels around the throne, or he is in the kitchen cooking and baking for that banqueting table. We will see him again one day!
Pat asked that in lieu of flowers, his friends and family's well wishers donate to Christian Institute of Arts & Sciences (501-C-3 non-profit) to help deserving families pay their children's school tuition.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 02, 2009 at Myrtle Grove Cemetery.
OAK LAWN FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.

I feel so truly blessed to be one of a handful that had the chance to get to know Papa Jones. I feel very honored that he thought so highly of my choice for a husband. He is greatly missed. I hope one that I can leave a legacy as great as his.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Jones buddies. Man. He is with the Lord, and has probably met my mom by now. Hugs all around.

Dear Jones Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure he is so glad to be up in Heaven now though. I was so honored to have been able to have met him even just for a little bit. I love your family eternally.
