Harriet J. Wallace Obituary
Harriet J. Wallace

Pensacola - Harriet Counts (Jenkins) Wallace, 87, of Pensacola, FL, died peacefully on November 9th. Born on October 30, 1932, in Elizabethton, TN, to Tivey and Inez (Counts) Jenkins, she remained in Elizabethton until her marriage to Kenneth Wallace (USN). The couple then embarked on a remarkable and proud career in the US Navy which took them to many duty stations around the country until his retirement in 1974. Her life was made all the richer in raising four daughters, and being "Mamaw" to seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Harriet was a proud and active Navy wife and became an integral part of squadron and Blue Angels family life, supporting that community in leadership as well as her volunteer service at local hospitals. Post Navy life brought the Wallaces to Ridgefield, CT, where Harriet became involved in several organizations, including women's circles at Jesse Lee United Methodist Church.

In the late 1980s, the Wallaces made a final move to Pensacola, where Harriet was a charter member of Perdido Bay United Methodist church, and also sang in the choir. She also was a valued volunteer at Baptist Hospital.

Harriet was known for her delightful southern charm, sparkling wit, and compassion for those less fortunate. She and Ken enjoyed a life full of dear and lasting friendships, and loved nothing more than to listen to Big Band music and show off their fantastic dance prowess. She was a proud supporter of the Tennessee Vols, and she and Ken could be found on Saturday afternoons cheering on the team.

Harriet is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth R. Wallace; her sister Dorothy Ann (Jenkins) Markland; and her grandson, Michael David McMorran.

She leaves behind four daughters, Vickie Plasker (William) of Salem, OR, Pamela Wallace of Sacramento, CA, Lisa Wallace (Scott Davidow) of Newtown, CT, Kendra Pak (Hui) of Alexandria, VA; six grandchildren, Ryan McMorran of San Diego, CA, Damon Welke (Harvest) of Salem, OR, Nathaniel Pak of Sarasota, FL, Kenna Grace Pak of Alexandria, VA, and Savannah & Annaleigh Davidow of Newtown, CT. Harriet also leaves behind four great-grandchildren and many treasured friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Perdido Bay United Methodist Church, Pensacola, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to her favorite charity, .
