Owen Haines Taffe, Jr., 87, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013.

Owen was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He enlisted with the US Air Force during WWII and later served during the Korean War. Owen worked as a licensed Architect and Civil Engineer and ultimately retired after a long career with the Federal Public Works Engineering Department at NAS Pensacola. The hobbies he enjoyed were flying, model railroading and woodworking.

He is preceded in death by his father, Owen H. Taffe, Sr.; mother, Veola Dickson Taffe and sister, Veola B. Taffe all of Atlanta, GA.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Martha Mae Nobles Taffe; son, Owen H. Taffe, III (Suzanne); son, Clinton P. Taffe of Houston, TX; brother, Mallory S. Taffe (Catherine) of Atlanta, GA; as well as 3 grandchildren, Connor, Garrett and Aiden Taffe.

Visitation will be held 4:30-6:30pm Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

Graveside Service will be held 10:00am Friday, August 2, 2013 at Roberts Cemetery (Creighton Road) with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating.

Active Pallbearers will be Carl Mertins, Robert Moulton, Don Chandler, Mallory Taffe, Connor Taffe and Garrett Taffe.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Leslie B. Nettles, Jr. of San Diego, CA, George Wurtele of Birmingham, AL and Charles Purvis of Panacea, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, Pensacola, FL or to Georgia Tech Alumni Association, Atlanta, GA.

The family would like to thank Pamela R. Nobles, RN and Mary Alta Nobles.
