William Sterzing Obituary

William Duane Sterzing, Jr.

Pensacola - William Duane Sterzing Jr. was guided to peace surrounded by family on Monday January 22, 2018. He was welcomed home by his father William Duane Sterzing Sr., who passed in 2008. Duane's character was defined by his work ethic, loyalty, kindness, and strength. Duane had a

way of making those he accompanied feel safe and cared for in the most genuine way by always having a listening ear, an honest answer, and the best hugs that would soothe anyone. He was a man of few words, but he provided an unconditional love that was indescribable. Duane was committed to his career of 25 years working for Lewis Bear Company as a circular employee. Duane spent his free time engaged in Special Olympics both as a parent and a coach, bowling with his son, cooking for anyone, spending time with family, watching the same movie a million times because he would fall asleep, as well as playing his favorite sport of poker at the Dog Track. Duane was a jack of all trades from his craftsmanship in building and repairing anything and everything, bowling, being able to cook amazing meals from anything found in the kitchen, good financial awareness, to his valuable advice and wisdom of life and its lessons. Duane's love lives on in: his mother, Shirley Ann Sterzing; his son, William Matthew Sterzing; Matthew's Mother, Rebecca Sterzing; his sister, Teresa Kay Schraer and brother, Kevin Lee Sterzing; his nieces Lauren Nicole Schraer and Amanda Schraer; his nephew William Zackary Schraer, along with cherished extended family. William Duane Sterzing Jr. was a hardworking, honest, and loyal family man that was always willing to help anyone in need without question. He was a source of strength to his family and fellow friends and will remain so in the memories and love he left behind. In celebration of his life the memorial will be held amongst close family and friends in a private service. In lieu of flowers we ask you make a donation in his honor to Special Olympics, Seastars, and or Autism of Pensacola which were programs very dear to him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Woodlands, West Florida Hospital, and Covenant Hospice for the compassionate care given, in addition to, Lewis Bear Company for their patience, understanding, and love through this experience.
