ST. CROIX – Beatrice J. "Bea" Ransom Martin, 77, passed away Jan. 6, 2019, at her home.
She was born in Perry County, Ind., on Dec. 22, 1941, to the late Stanford and Mary E. (Guillaume) Ransom.
Bea was a graduate of Oil Township High School. An LPN, she had worked at Heritage House Nursing Home and retired from Branchville Correctional Facility.
Bea enjoyed playing cards, dancing, watching T.V., listening to country music and the local band, Overdrive, visiting with family, friends and going out to eat.
Surviving are her children, Elizabeth Ransom of Branchville, Gordy Ransom (Bertie) of English, Johnna Madley (Lonnie) of Eckerty, Kevin Herrell of Palestine, Ill., and Rich Martin of St. Croix; her sisters, Mary Lois Ransom of Branchville and Annettie Ransom of Tell City; her grandchildren, Shane Hammack (Bri), Dane Ransom (Natalie), Dalton Ransom, Laryn Ransom, Randi Prueher (Fred), Zachary Madley (Jessica), Devin Martin, Paige Martin, Cyndi Rehmels (Tyler), Brittney Herrell and Shane Herrell; her great-grandchildren, Silas Hammack, Delina Ransom, Loni Prueher, Collin Madley, Cole and Kate Rehmels and Emma Wolfe.
Preceding her in death was her parents, her brother, Mark Ransom, and her grandson, Nathan Ransom.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CST Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Al Madden will officiate. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery, Branchville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
