Obituary

BRANCHVILLE – Christine R. "Chris" Trumbo, 65, passed away on Aug. 5, 2019, on her farm in Branchville.
She was born in Austin, Texas, on Aug. 9, 1953, the daughter of Major Otis E. and Agnes (Laurent) Saalman.
A 1971 graduate of Cannelton High School, Chris then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, having served as Postmaster for Branchville and Bristow. She was currently working at Marcy's in Leopold. In her spare time, Chris spent lots of time in her shop and was somewhat a "jack of all trades," from making wedding dresses as a gifted seamstress to installing kitchen cabinets as a gift to her daughter. From a young age, her true passion was her love of horses, caring for them daily on her farm.
She was a member of Mount Eden Baptist Church in Hancock County, Ky., and American Quarter Horse Association.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne Trumbo of Branchville; son, Jeff Roark (Charlotte Taylor) of Tell City; daughter, Melissa Billow ("Bug") of Leopold; siblings, Steve Saalman of Tell City, Bob Saalman(Sharon) of Bloomfield, Jane Flamion (Kenny) of Branchville, Mark Saalman (Tammy) of Branchville, Richard Saalman of Hawesville, Ky., Mary Alexander (David) of Derby and Peggy Mullis (Terry) of Branchville; grandchildren, David Thompson, Sidney Taylor, Kayla Billow and Kara Billow. Preceding her in death was her sister, Mary Jane Saalman in infancy and brothers, Jim Saalman and Cody Saalman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, at Mount Eden Baptist Church in Hancock County, Ky., with burial in Walker Cemetery in Branchville. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, and from 9 a.m. until service time at church.
