TELL CITY – Eugene Hicks, 80, passed away Jan. 7, 2019, at his residence in Tell City after a battle with cancer.
Born June 22, 1938, in Troy, Ind., he was the son of the late Willis Hicks and Laura (Shephard) Orander. He was united in marriage on July 28, 1962, to Linda (Badger) Hicks who survives. Eugene retired from Swiss Plywood in 2007 after 48 years. He was a member of the Community Christian Church in Tell City since the church began. He enjoyed songwriting, cigars, crossword puzzles, and his cats, Smokey and Gracey. He was also a member of the Indiana Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; his daughter, Vicky Hicks-Spear (Scott); and his grandson, Evan Spear, all of Tell City.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his step-father, Joe Orander; and his half-brothers, Forrest Bolin, William Bolin and Hubert Bolin.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Pastors Ben Rake and Errol Wright officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
