FRANCES THACHER, passed away peacefully Thurs., Feb. 16, 2006, at home in Vero Beach FL. She was 93.
Born Frances Thacher in Beverly NJ, she lived in Edgewater Park NJ with her parents and 4 siblings during her formative years. She graduated from the Agnes Irwin School, then in Philadelphia, in 1930. In June of 1936, she was married to the late Frederick Miller Grauer, formally of New York. Mr. Grauer passed away in 2001, two months after their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary.
While living in the Philadelphia area, the Grauers were members of Merion Golf Club, Merion Cricket Club, Bay Head (NJ) Yacht Club, and Mantoloking (NJ) Yacht Club. Mrs. Grauer was also active in the Junior League of Philadelphia.
In 1969, the Grauers moved to Vero Beach and became members of Riomar Country Club and later, the Oak Harbor Club. Throughout her active life, Mrs. Grauer was an ardent sailor and golfer and always everyone's favorite bridge partner.
Mrs. Grauer is survived by her 4 children, Mrs. Hugh R. Kirkpatrick, Jr. of Vero Beach, Frederick M. Grauer, Jr. of Boulder CO, Peter T. Grauer of Greenwich CT and Anne H. Grauer of Philadelphia; 9 grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Mrs. Benjamin H. Barnett and Mrs. John H. Brown, both of Philadelphia. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Feb. 25th, 11 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd., Vero Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35th La., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
