I have often felt as if Betsy and I were on parallel journeys through this life. Like me, Betsy came from a Protestant background. Both of us married Polish American men and became “honorary” Sekulas, a wonderful tribe of Polish Americans indigenous to the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. Both of us converted to Catholicism and embraced our newfound faith.

We had first sons about the same age. Whatever Betsy did, she did with ease and grace. Of course she surpassed me and had a second son, Ryan. How she loved her boys! She had a lot to be proud of, for they have turned out well.

Betsy had a way of tilting her head and smiling a slight almost shy smile when she spoke. Her manner was calming. I shall miss her.

Elisabeth Thomas will always be remembered by me as a very graceful and charming person. I remember her especially at her wedding. At the elegant reception that she and her parents had planned Elisabeth was a figure of grace moving amongst the many types of people gathered there to celebrate her marriage. She was lucky as well because the marriage would yield a caring, accomplished husband and two caring young men. Her life was much too short but none could say that Betsy’s life was not full.

I was so saddened to hear of Betsy's death. I hung out with her and Paul about 25 years ago and then lost touch. My memories of her are of a happy, fun-loving, warm young lady who was crazy about Paul. I'm not surprised to read that she was a wonderful and devoted mother. My deepest sympathies to Paul and her boys. My thoughts and prayers and with you and the extended family in this time of sorrow. "Only the good die young." God bless.

Paul, Greg and Ryan-
May you find comfort in knowing your wife/mom is at peace with the Lord. I'll miss her friendship but I will never forget her! We started off as co-workers at PWC but quickly became friends. I loved the way her eyes sparkled when she talked about "her boys". May God Bless all of you.

I will always remember with smiles and fondness the Bingo games at Kentmore. Betsy and I had many laughts and a few panic times trying to figure out the money and have a glass of wine at the same time.

My sincerest sympathies. I understand your loss and your grief.
