There are many entertainers who use one name monikers. Our "Prof" was one of the best. Whether perfecting a liturgical song, directing a choral performance or visiting parishioner homes at Christmas, Prof always brought his "A" game. How appropriate that God called him while he was doing what he did best.

I will always fondly remember the litugical singing, the many choral / dance concerts and of course the annual celebrations at my mom's for Christmas time caroling.

Certainly a gift to his family and a great gift to his Holy Ghost family. Thank you, God, for sharing this wonderful life with us.

Holy Ghost West will always remember our beloved "Prof".

All of us here in Phoenix would like to express our condolence and prayers at this difficult time. So many memories of Prof are with us. He was a positive influence on all of us. He will be missed. Even though 20 years have passed since we last traveled with the choir at Christmas, those memories are still strong. Eternal Memory

It's difficult to put into words the impact someone like Prof. has had on my life and the lives of all those blessed to have known him. I'm greatful for the gift of music, and love of the Byzantine tradition that he has instilled in me. To carry that on, is the best tribute we can give to him. Despite time or distance Holy Ghost will always be home for me, I send my love and prayers to the Kavka and H.G. family, always.

I am grateful to have known Professor Kavka at Holy Ghost and to have learned so much about music and the liturgy from him. His loss will be felt deeply by many. I thank his family for sharing him with us all these years so that he could share his talents with us. His legacy will be long. Blessed repose and eternal memory.

Professor Kavka was indeed a special person, and I will forever treasure the time that I was priviledged to know him as a mentor and friend.

He was a true gentleman who, through his many years of service and tremendous contributions toward the preservation of the Byzantine-Ruthenian Catholic liturgical music and culture through his dual ministries of Cantor & Choir Director at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, set a new "benchmark" to which those who follow in his examples can hope to aspire.
