Dear Joan, Michael and Brittany,
I am so sorry for Mike's sudden and tragic passing. Mike was an awesome friend and he touched many lives. I worked with him (through CMG) and it was always great to talk wth him - he certainly loved you all with all his heart! He was so proud of his family and it showed in everything he did. He is up in heaven chatting it up with the angels now :) May God bless you and keep you strong.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Mike when I was a buyer at Barnes & Noble. He was a consummate professional in everyway and could never do enough for his customers. Plus, he was just such a nice guy and I really liked him personally. This is such a huge loss for the industry and of course even moreso for his family. My sincere condolences and sympathy.

Joan and the Leitner family,
I knew Mike in the business world for only the past few years, but whenever we got together for a meeting and/or lunch or dinner, the conversation would invariably involve family. Mike always spoke with such joy and love about the various vacations and adventures he shared with all of you, whether it was a story about good times at the Shore, a trip to Hershey Park, a ballpark tour, or some other event...the love and pride that would come through (most recently about Michael's summer job with the Phillies!) was evident. He was a wonderful person who we were all lucky to call our colleague and friend. He will be missed by me and the rest of the Time Warner family.

Dear Joan and children,
While I've never met you, I had the honor of working w/your husband/father for the past 6 years. He was the nicest man, the kindest man that I've met at SORC. Please know that I've never heard anything but good comments about your husband/father in those 6 years. I feel honored to have known him and lucky to have been able to say hello/good bye to him a few weeks ago. He is a wonderful role model for all his children.

The world and especially the magazine business is diminished by our loss of Mike. No matter the time of day or day of the week, he was always enthusiastic, involved, helpful, vibrant, and always there for us all.
He was also one of the best ambassadors for South Philly and every time I'll see a Philly sports highlight or score (up here in NY) I'll smile with Mike in mind! (not to mention every time I hear "Golden Slippers" or any mummer string band tune!)
My deepest sympathies to you all on this tragic loss, but his infectious love of life, family, friends, and colleagues will stay with us always.

Mike Leitner was a good man. Personally and professionally you could always trust and depend on Mike. He made a difference. Over the years he and I have shared a lot of laughs, some sorrows and oodles of Kettle One. His kindness and generosity were unparalleled. Mikes tragic and untimely departure has had a profound affect on the lives of many, but it his for family that my heart truly aches. It was no secret how much he loved his family. Joan and the kids were his favorite topic and they were always his priority. Joan, Michelle, Melissa, Brittany and Michael, may family, friends and faith provide you with comfort and strength during this devastating time. Goodbye Mike. I miss you already.

Joan and Family,
I never met your husband and your dad. But, I spoke with Mike on the phone many times. Through our interaction, I always thought that he would be a great friend. He was nice and witty, smart, dependable and always professional. He represented his employer very well. It is my loss that I never met Mike. It is a sad day even for those of us who didn't get a chance to really know him. Take heart in knowing that your husband and dad was a special person, who could touch even a stranger's life.

I was broken hearted to hear of Mike's passing. Mike and I go back some 20 + years. we worked together at Food Emporium, A & P and again at Duane Reade. Mike was always the person who, no matter what cheered you up, always letting you know the cup was half full!, his spirit was infectious, his smile- unforgettable. He was brillant with respect to business idea and how to better go to business, he was always thinking of the customer. He always spoke with joy about his family and how much he loved and appreciated them! Mike will be missed in this industry not only as a brillant man but a special friend. It is only my hope to take his spirit and live by it...in Mike's honor.
To Mike's family, my deepest Sympathy to each of you.

All of us at Rodale who are fortunate enough to have spent time working with Mike, brainstorming with Mike, dreaming up better ways to do business with Mike, we are all brokenhearted. We know the love he had for his family was limitless. The pride with which he'd speak of all of you was palpable. His joy, infectious. He will be missed of that we can be sure. Most of my fondest childhood memories include Mike. Who else would take a little girl to see Grease every weekend while it was in the movies back in the 80's? He will always hold a special place in my heart. He was a kind soul with a zest for life and he always had a smile on his face in my memory. I am sad but comforted in knowing he lived life to the fullest, loved and laughed a lot. I love you Michael P and I wish you peace in heaven. Love, Carolyn a.k.a. "IB"

What can you possibly say when such a loving, caring and genuinely good guy is taken from his family and friends without warning? Mike, we shared many laughs, tears and hive fives watching Michael and Mark grow up. And heck, we even tried to dance a few times. They are far and away some of my most cherished memories of fatherhood. The fact that we shared them together makes them even closer to the heart. You were and will always be the most remarkable father, husband and friend. Always putting others first. May you rest in perfect peace my dear friend and thank you for being you. Joan, Britt and Michael - we love you. Mark, Rosa, Mark Anthony and Julianna Casasanto.
