I was blessed to have been able to speak with "Mama Garner" several times over the phone and through e-mail since my college days with Lemar. It was obvious that she loved her family above all else. She is undoubtedly in heaven, shining down on us all.
Stay strong MarBar... you know I love ya!

My deepest sympathy to the family of Cheryl. She was truly one of the most passionate, giving and driven woman I've met and had the pleasure of working with. Her commitment to children was commendable and I along with many others will miss the enthusiasm she always showed every day. Thank you Cheryl for those moments where we tackled many difficult issues and always ended up smiling.

Just because you are gone
doesn't mean that we'll forget you
we could never do that
because you always pulled us through
you will never be forgotten
you'll always be in our hearts
when I was going through a rough time
you always put a smile on my face
you could always cheer someone up
just by your warm embrace
I know you'll be watching over us
from your place in the sky
but please don't be mad
if you see me cry
it's my way of showing
how much it's you that I miss
I know you were getting sick
but I never expected this
we may all cry
and say how we wish you weren't gone
but one day we'll all be reunited
and until then we'll all remain strong
I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye
but you're in a better place now
and even though I wish I could see you again
I know we'll all get through somehow
I just want you to know
that I'll never forget your face
I hope you know how missed
you're going to be from this place!

To all Family & Friends of Cheryl Ransom-Garner,
I am very sorry for your loss, may her beloved soul rest in peace. Sending prayers of comfort and peace your way. During her time as Commissioner of DHS many of us felt she truly understood and valued us social workers in child welfare. Even though my interaction was often brief; she just felt like family - always greeted others with a smile, was very approachable, and kind. May she rest in peace and may you find strength in the Lord at this difficult time.
