RAVDIN
WILLIAM DICKIE, On March 30, 2014, 85, died at Kendal at Longwood, Kennett Square, PA. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mary Herndon Ravdin, in 2005.
The son of Drs. Isidor S. and Elizabeth Glenn Ravdin, Philadelphia, PA, Bill was a graduate of Friends' Central School and Swarthmore College (BA in History, 1950). His long career took him overseas, always returning to Phila. and, in summer, Grand Isle, VT.
A keen fisherman, woodworker, gardener, lover of music, theology and literature, Bill was dedicated to many causes, charities and organizations; in retirement providing consulting to Friends schools, nationally. He will be remembered as a caring friend, mentor and colleague, devoted father, grandfather, and beloved spouse of Mary.
He is survived by his children, R. F. Glenn Ravdin, South Hero, VT, wife Kimberly; Anne Ravdin Taylor, Kennett Square, PA, husband Richard; Susan B. Ravdin, Montreal, Canada, husband Wilfrid de Freitas; grandchildren, Dylan H. and Marel L. Ravdin, New York, NY; in-laws Henry N. Herndon, Hanover, NH; Nancy H. Clapp, Wilmington, DE; Carolyn P. Ravdin, Haverford, PA; Bill's partner, Katherine L. Rosier, of Kendal.
A Memorial Service after the manner of Friends will be held at Kendal on Saturday, May 10 at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Mary Herndon Ravdin Memorial Fund, Media-Providence Friends School, 125 W. 3rd St., Media, PA 19063. Online condolences may be made by visiting
