Anneliese Nagel Obituary
ANNELIESE NAGEL OF CHARLESTOWN Anneliese Nagel, 89, of Charlestown, was taken by her Lord on Friday, September 7, 2012. She was the wife of Harry W. Nagel, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Heddesheim Germany, she was the youngest child of the late Katharine and Johannes Scherb. She moved with her family to Westtown where she lived for 17 years before moving to Charlestown. She attended schools in the Heidelberg area of Germany and later took courses at the Technical University in Hannover, Germany where her husband was studying under a Fulbright grant. She was a homemaker in the fullest sense of the word, an expert cook, baker and a gracious hostess who truly enjoyed people. She was also expert in many forms of needlework, through which her memory will live on in many of the homes of friends and family. She loved children and volunteered in the pediatric department of The Chester County Hospital as a member of the Westtown Auxiliary to the hospital for many years. In addition, she enjoyed reading, hiking, gardening and travelling, especially with her children and grandchildren, both in the U. S. and abroad. Although born in Germany, she studied to become an American citizen as soon as was possible, vowing to visit every one of her fifty new states, which she did, more than once. In addition to her husband, Anneliese is survived by a son, Manfred W. Nagel and daughter-in-law, Barbara Nagel of East Bradford; a daughter, Heidi Bohannon of Exton; three grandsons, Daniel Bohannon; Jason Nagel and wife, Rebecca Nagel, and Kevin Bohannon, and a great-granddaughter Molly Nagel, who was the apple of her eye. Anneliese will be sorely missed by many. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 South New Street, West Chester, PA 19382, where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Interment will be private in the Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Valley Forge. Memorial contributions should be made to Calvary Lutheran Church at the above address. Arrangements are being handled by the Founds Funeral Home, Inc., West Chester, 610-696-0134.
