Evelyn Mainor Moore
Chesapeake - Evelyn Mainor Moore passed on March 22, 2013. She was born in Maxton, NC on March 23, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Hayes and Eva Mainor. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Moore.
She was a member of St. John's AME Church and was active in the Mamie Kornegay Fellowship.
She lived her early years in New Jersey and was a retired educator from the Camden, New Jersey school system. She moved to Norfolk, VA in 1996 and spent many happy days enjoying the arts in the Hampton Roads area. She enjoyed listening to all types of music, attending plays and loved spending time with family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Patricia Holmes Myers of Chesapeake,VA and Eva Holmes Caldwell of Chapel Hill, NC ( the daughters of the late Jack Holmes); two grandchildren, Stacey Caldwell Thompson and Edwin Caldwell III of Chapel Hill, NC; five great grandchildren, one great great grandson, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, with viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. John's AME Church, 545 East Bute Street, Norfolk, VA, 23510. Burial will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offered to the family at www. pretlowandsons.com .
The family would like to thank the Medi Home Health and Hospice for their excellent care and attention.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's AME Church "Blitz Fundraiser".
