Milton L. Jacocks, Sr.
Norfolk - Milton L. Jacocks, Sr., 88, of Mitchellville, MD and Norfolk, VA, peacefully transitioned March 3, 2014. A native Norfolkian, he attended the Norfolk Public Schools and the Norfolk Division of Virginia State College; and was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church, Bute St. He was a graduate and active member of the BTW Class of '43. He retired from the US Postal Service and served many years as a long-term substitute teacher for Norfolk Public Schools. He is survived by devoted children; Karen J. Thompson (Andres) and Milton L. Jacocks, Jr. (Kim), and loving granddaughter, Dr. Courtney R. Jacocks. Also survived by brother, Shelton F. Jacocks, Sr. (Shirley), four nieces, two nephews, and a host of loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Atlanta W. Jacocks, daughter Freda Jacocks and brother Calvin (Cal) Jacox. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 9 from 3pm to 5pm at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Norfolk, VA. His life will be celebrated on Monday, March 10 at 11a.m. at First Baptist Church, Bute St. Dr. Robert G. Murray will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk VA.
