Joseph R. Worrell
Virginia Beach - Joseph Raymond Worrell, 81, of Knob Hill, passed away March 23, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Suffolk to the late George L. Worrell, Sr. and Zola Greene Worrell. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, George L. Worrell, Jr.; sister, Margaret Blanchard and nephew, Dennis Blanchard. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War; was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church, Elizabeth Lodge #34 A.F. & A. M., Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Shrine Temple A. A.O.N.M.S.; and also retired as a Harbor Pilot with the Norfolk & Southern Railroad.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Angela Worrell; daughter, Bridgette L. Crawley and her husband, John; son, Keith R. Worrell; grandchildren, John Tyler Worrell and Brianna Nichole Ward; sister, Mary Sue Ankrom; brother, Robert Worrell; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog "Nick".
A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11 am at Graham Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen N. Jolly officiating followed by Masonic Rites. He will be laid to rest at Holy Neck Christian Church Cemetery, Suffolk. We will miss you "Papa Joe" and will cherish your memories forever in our hearts. May you rest in peace at the right hand side of your Lord and Rejoice with your family in heaven. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 7:30 pm. Mr. Worrell was a dear friend to my husband and his family at Freemason St. Baptist. And I am truly blessed to have known him as my friend too!
Kind, respectable, honest, true to himself.
I will miss looking for him at coffee hour on Sundays.
