Billy B. Spurgeon

Virginia Beach - Billy B. Spurgeon, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, and member of Ocean View Church passed away Friday morning. Billy was born in 1929 and grew up an "Ocean View boy". He was a lifeguard in Ocean View in his youth, and the first Virginia State Wrestling Champion at Granby High School but he graduated from Maury High School. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps.

Billy was a Master Plumber and is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Louise Spurgeon.

Billy and Louise enjoyed boating and crabbing. Billy will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather to their four daughters, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren

Billy was a docent at the Ocean View Station Museum. Donations may be made in his name at the Ocean View Library.

Billy is survived by his daughters, Debra Berner of Monroeville, PA, Shari Garmon of Richmond, VA, Carol Stewart of Springfield, VA, and Jeanette Kennedy of Cary, N.C.

Visitation will be Mon., Nov. 25, from 6-8 p.m., and funeral Tues., Nov. 26 at 10:30 a.m.. All services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gdns. 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk VA 23502.
