Douglas M. Flowers

Virginia Beach - Douglas Maurice Flowers passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of March 30, 2014 at the age of 67. Doug was born on March 10, 1947 to the late Major and Dorothy Flowers. Doug served in the United States Navy and went on to have a successful career as a Mortgage Broker and Steam Agent. He was a loving father who raised two sons in Texas before moving to Virginia. Doug will always be remembered for the love of his family, the Republican Party, the great state of Texas, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, western movies and the games of golf, pool and darts. He was predeceased by his brother, Jeff Flowers. Doug is survived by his two sons, Daniel S. Flowers and wife Katlyn, and USN Fire Controlman Second Class Matthew A. Flowers; his long time significant other, Nina Klages; his brother, Steven Flowers and wife Lynn; his sister, Marjorie LaBate-Flowers; eight nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Deborah Parsons. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the Great Neck Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1264 Great Neck Rd., Virginia Beach. Reception to follow at private residence; address and directions will be provided at the service.
