I was Reno´s water boy for the Washington and
Lee Generals in 1952 when Reno worked for the athletic department. A stern taskmaster with enormous compassion for his fellow mortals, tempered by a sharp wit and good humor.

Reno was a wonderful mentor to me and to many. He shared his knowledge, wisdom, and common sense. He and his lovely wife, Pat, brought class, strength of character, and southern gentility to the Board of Governors of the Criminal Bar Section of the Virginia State Bar. It is the loss of an icon, legend, friend, and committed servant of the Commonwealth.

Loved Reno and his family. His father was a great influence in my youth. Reno was a great supporter of St. Stephen´s and an effective public servant. I will miss seeing his smiling face and upbeat attitude.

Reno, you quickly became a part of our family - not just because of your love for our "Aunt Pat," but because of your kindness, quick wit, and tolerance and support for everyone you loved. We already miss your visits to to the beach, your love of good seafood, and your support and devotion to all things "Virginian." You were the quintessential Southern gentlemen, Reno, and we are all the better for your presence in our lives. Thank you. Dr. Deborah Cunningham Breede.

One of Virginia's best. A great friend, neighbor and public servant. May he rest in peace.
