John James Obituary
Virginia Beach - John William James, 52, born in Winston-Salem, NC, passed away of cardiac arrest on December 23, 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Candi Clarkson James; son, Ben James; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Bryan Penny; grandchildren, James and Jenna Penny; mother, Helen James Farrow; siblings, Laurie Bowles, Aino Jackson, Timothy James and Ben Mark James; and several nieces and nephews.
John was a graduate of Mid-Atlantic Christian University and worked as a Senior Training Consultant at CACI. He was a member of Coastal Community Church in Virginia Beach where he participated in the High School ministry. John was an avid sports-enthusiast, particularly football, the UNC Tarheels, Miami Dophins, Carolina Panthers, and was the number one fan of the Christopher Newport University Captains where his son, Ben, plays. John is known and loved for his years of coaching several sports in the Courthouse Rec League. He was a gifted vocalist and storyteller. He cherished telling tales and swapping silly nicknames with his grandbabies. He touched many lives as officiate at numerous weddings and funerals through the years. He was a charismatic and beloved man who will be deeply missed.
The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, December 29, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Community Church at 2800 S. Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private. At 5:00 p.m. a celebration of life will take place at Brothers Pizza at 2401 Seaboard Road in Virginia Beach. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com

We were so sad to learn of your husband's passing.We sold you the home that you and he have lived in since 2005,and I still remember how happy the both of you were the day you came for the final inspection. I was truly havingmixed emotions that day. Not too long ago David stopped by and John was gracious enough to show him your pool.

I had the pleasure of working with John at CACI. He was a wonderful person to everyone and served as a mentor to me during all our trips to Hawaii. I will always remember him fondly. I am so sorry for your loss and will remember John and your family in my prayers.

There are no words that will fill the void that has been left....knowing that we will see him again gives us the hope and peace for our eternal home. I first met John at Camp Rudolph when he was singing for RBC, my life was touched for ever.
