Mary Fallon Obituary

Mary Teresa Cumiskey Fallon, formerly of the Bronx and Bellerose, NY, returned home to her Lord on March 22, 2021, at 83 years young.

Mary is predeceased by her loving parents, Patrick and Anna; dear brothers, John and Patrick; and twin brother, Peter; and beloved granddaughter, Caitlin. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Tighe; son, William (Laura); and daughter, Maryann Ryan (Sean), Patricia Pearston (Dale), and Mary Ellen Chandler (Steve). Left to grieve are three granddaughters, five grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was born on July 16, 1937, at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital in New York City. Her twin brother arrived 15 minutes before Mary. Peter lived only five short months, but his impact on Mary's life was significant. She was always comforted that one part of her has been enjoying the kingdom of Heaven and she anxiously awaited to be greeted by Peter on her journey home.

Mary lived in New York for the next 66 years. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1951. Her first job was a Sales Agent at Eastern Airlines, which awarded her the opportunity to travel to many places. She ultimately retired from a career in service at Long Island Jewish Hospital. Outside of work, Mary was a member of a theatre group and enjoyed performing. She also became a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at Comfort Care hospice.

Mary has called Chesapeake, Virginia home for the past 18 years. She would only move away from New York on the condition that she would still be able to watcher her cherished Yankee games. While in Virginia, Mary continued to devote her life to others. Mary went to the Chesapeake Jail on a weekly basis to share bible study. She was actively involved in the Prince of Peace Church, serving as a President of the Grand Group and spending many days volunteering at the food pantry.

Mary lived her life out loud. She was truly a wonderful friend, an adored Grandma and "Pizza Nanny", and a blessing to all who knew her. Mary was known for her vivacious personality, quick wit, and always making people around her laugh. She had costumes for every occasion and was never afraid to dress-up. Her fun-loving and kind spirit was simply contagious. Mary will be sorely missed by her loved ones.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Please join us in celebrating her life at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Friday, March 26, at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Prince of Peace food pantry would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

I met Mary when she worked at LIJ. It was always a pleasure to see her and on occasion I would visit her in Bellerose. When she moved to VA we kept in touch through Christmas cards. In the past 2 years when I hadn´t received a card I had a feeling she may have been called home. I think of Mary often and it was a blessing to have known her. Rest In Peace my friend

We met Mary at the Food Pantry 6 yrs ago. She was always smiling to greet people. We loved how she would dress up for special holidays & end our pantry prayer with "play ball"! She was devoted to the Lord. We will miss your lovely spirit, Mary.
