Portsmouth - Adeline Baysmore Wilkins, 91, departed this life on March 8, 2012. She was born in Portsmouth, Va. to the late James and Elizabeth Baysmore. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Lewis Thurman Wilkins. She was a former member of Martha Chapter #10 Order of the Eastern Star, The Daughters of Isis, The Loyal Ladies of the John Barnes Assembly and the Heroines of Jericho. She was an active member of the Cavalier Manor Senior Group and a long time Deaconess in Fourth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Va. where she was a member for 80 years.
She graduated from I.C. Norcom High, attended the Norfolk Division of Virginia State College and graduated from Jordan's Beauty College and became a Beautician.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Lewis A. Wilkins Sr. (Bonnie) of Portsmouth, Va., Thurman L. Wilkins of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren, Shari Wilkins, Lewis A. Wilkins Jr., Toya Crosland (Jermaine), Chola Marshall (Furman) and seven great-grandchildren who loved their "Granny." She leaves two wonderful sisters who she loved dearly, Priscilla Brown of Portsmouth, Va. and Martha Baysmore of Philadelphia, Pa. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 12 noon at Fourth Baptist Church. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.
