Chesapeake - Albert R Glackin of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away on August 8th 2018 at the age of 83. He was born on August 19, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Albert Glackin and Grace Glackin (Brennan).

Al grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1953. After high school he enlisted in the US Army and served in the 82nd Airborne. Al worked for Continental Can and Sonoco Products as a Supervisor and then Plant Manager.

Al married Margaret Smith in 1957 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They were happily married for 60 years. Al was a member of St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church and the Amazing Grays. He enjoyed spending time at the Chesapeake Lifestyle Center. Al was a passionate and lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son Thomas Glackin.

Al is survived by his wife Maggie of Chesapeake; daughters Mary Beth Hurrell of Chesapeake, Linda Senich (John) of Chesapeake, and Pam Page (Wayne) of Wake Forest, NC; six grandchildren Megan, Tom, Mallory, Mary Brennan, Patrick and Riley. He is also survived by his sisters Colleen Bach and Maureen Bushman.

A prayer service and visitation will be held at HD Oliver Funeral Home, 1416 Cedar Road Chesapeake on Friday, August 10th, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 11th at 10:00 a.m. St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, 1544 S. Battlefield Blvd. Chesapeake, Virginia. Immediately following the Funeral and Interment, the family will be greeting friends and relatives at a luncheon reception at the church hall.
