Virginia Beach - Betty Hatch Miller passed away in her home on Friday, December 13, 2013. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 30, 1930 and was the daughter of the late John Henry Hatch and Jessie Mae Walker Hatch. She was also predeceased by her husband, Ret. Captain David Miller, and two brothers, John Henry Hatch and Edward Walker Hatch.

Betty graduated from Oceana High School in 1948 and attended Mary Washington College. She was a devoted member of Nimmo United Methodist Church where she held many positions through the years including member and past Chairman of the Trustees and past President of the Nimmo United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Nimmo Bell Choir which brought her much joy. Betty was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine for many years, as well as past Captain of the Patrol, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Westminster Chapter.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Malbon Lawson and her husband Robert, Kathryn Malbon Herzing and her husband Paul, grandchildren, who meant the world to her, Robert D. Lawson, David Scott Herzing, and Amy Nicole Herzing, and two nephews, John Henry Hatch and Brian Walker Hatch.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Nimmo United Methodist Church Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a .
