Carol F. Maples Phillippi Obituary
Carol F. Maples Phillippi

Chesapeake - Carol Frances Maples Phillippi, 76, passed away November 5, 2013 after battling many years with cancer. She was born in South Norfolk, to the late Willard and Mittie Maples. She went to New York where she worked as a dancer in several capacities, including Radio City Music Hall Rockettes until she met the love of her life, Maurice. They entertained together traveling over much of the world. They were in 48 states and 52 countries. They worked with many of the biggest stars of the day. Later returning to Virginia, they were the owners of American Hardware in Chesapeake. For many years their home was a must for young and old at Christmas, to see the decorations and during the summer for pool parties, cookouts, volleyball and croquet.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Maurice "Maury" R. Phillippi, sister, Gerry M. Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and her precious pets. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elma M. Brinn, Edna M. Fitzgerald and brothers, Lyle Maples, Charles Maples and James Maples and nephews, Nathan Smith and Duane Maples.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, November 10, at 1 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Carol loved flowers and they are welcome as are donations to Chesapeake Police K-9 Unit or Blue Horse Mukwa Equine Retirement & Rescue Center, 25859 Hwy 49, Chase City, VA 23924.
