Clinton G. Nirdlinger Obituary
Clinton G. Nirdlinger

Chesapeake - Clinton G. Nirdlinger, "Clint" or "Nird" or "Bouchan" to his friends, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2018 with his loving wife, Cathy J. Nirdlinger, and daughter Tammy at his side.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, August 17, 1942, he is survived by his wife; two daughters, Suzanne Nirdlinger and Tammy Nirdlinger Ennis; a son, Wes Barnes; seven grandchildren; brother, Les Nirdlinger, and many nieces and nephews. Clint was predeceased by his son, Tommy Nirdlinger.

He served in the Navy from 1960 to 1973, spending time in Greece, Japan (Chichijima), and on the ocean tug, USS Mataco. He worked as a machinist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 17 years, retiring in 1993, and established his own business, Nirdlinger Machine.

He loved his family, his time in the Navy, his time overseas, and his co-workers at the Shipyard. He was always quick to tell a funny story about his experiences from his rich and colorful life, and to share a laugh.

He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed making meals for his family, friends and church, Apostles Lutheran.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2018 at Apostles Lutheran Church, 370 Johnstown Road, Chesapeake. Interment with military honors will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
