Norfolk - Frank Leroy "Andy" Anderson (86) shed this mortal body and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 7, 2014. He was born in Jackson, Michigan to the late Palmer and Georgia Anderson. He was predeceased by a son Peter Frank Anderson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Marjorie, daughter Janet Hill, and husband Ken of Virginia Beach, son David Anderson and wife Debra of Ahoskie, NC, and son Paul Anderson and wife Pam of Kitty Hawk, NC. Andy also leaves behind nine grandchildren David Anderson Jr. and wife Melissa, Matthew Anderson and wife Emily, Carrie Rangel and husband Erik, Jeannette Drew and husband David, June Kinnear and husband Thomas, Jammie Denson, Rachel Hill, Richelle McDonald, Jessica Kirby and husband Jamie; and 12 great-grandchildren Whitney, Chase, Brooke, Donald, Samantha, Jessica, Josie, Adam, Jacob, Declan, Khloe, and Anthony.

Andy was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served during WWII and the Korean conflict. After his Navy career was completed, Andy worked for another 20 years at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry-dock before retiring. Andy had to be a good hunter and fisherman as a teenager growing up in Michigan it was how meat was put on the table. Andy was very fond of John Wayne movies, and being 6' 6" himself he was in many ways a real life John Wayne.

Andy was a member of United Memorial Methodist Church on 804 Gammon Rd, Virginia Beach, where the service will be held on Monday March 10th at 1 p.m. by Pastor John Cole with interment following at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Va Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday March 9th. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the .
