Morgan Smith Obituary
Portsmouth - Morgan Hahn Smith Jr. (Chip) was born on December 6, 1949 and passed away peacefully on September 17, 2015 at Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, VA after battling a long term illness. He was 65 yrs. old. He is survived by his children; Sunny Gretsky (Tom Gretsky), Ben Smith (Tatum Smith); his siblings, Pat Robinson (Charlie Robinson), Maureen Markley (Larry Markley), Greg Smith (Denise Smith), brother-in-law Bill Lindley; and his grandchildren Ethan, Emily, Cole, Chloe, Reagan and Ryan. He was predeceased by his sister Bonnie Lindley.
Chip attended York high school where he played football. He graduated from Wiesbaden High School located on Wiesbaden AFB in Germany. He received his associate degree from Gulf Coast College in Panama City, FL. He returned to the tidewater area where he raised his family. He loved to bowl, play golf, coach and watch his kids play sports. Chip was a diehard Washington Redskins and FSU fan.
Chip was an accomplished building supplies salesman and was well known in the industry. He was charming, entertaining and generous. He was passionate about his work and loved his friends.
Chip will be buried alongside his parents, Col. Morgan H. Smith RET and Rosemary C. Smith in Lehighton, PA.
The family will receive friends for a celebration of life on Monday September 21, 2015 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Cahoon Plantation Golf Club, 1501 Cahoon Parkway, Chesapeake, VA 23322.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the family at this sorrowful time. Chip was a great guy whom I have known for several years, always quick with a joke or a smile he will be truly missed. We can only take comfort that we will meet again one day. Rest in peace my friend
