Sarah Tally Waters
Norfolk - Sarah Tally Waters, 49, died September 16, 2013 surrounded by her family.
She was born to Marshall and the late Darlene Waters on July 5, 1964 in Norfolk , Va.
Sarah graduated from Lake Taylor High School in 1983, was a life member of Freemason Street Baptist Church, and worked as a technician at Computer Image Reference Systems, Inc.
Despite being born with spina bifida, Sarah took every opportunity to live each day to its fullest. Among these was earning a Special Olympics Gold Medal in the softball throw, travelling to Austria to experience Christmas Markets firsthand, and living independently at the Anchorage.
Sarah also loved to serve. Among her passions was Public Television, Norfolk Botanical Gardens, the SPCA, and the Norfolk Forum. She held a special love for Freemason Street Baptist Church where she served on the Library Committee, attended Sunday School and volunteered for countless outreach missions.
Among her guilty pleasures was following the exploits of the British Royal Family, watching Downton Abbey, and coffee with sugar and cream at every meal.
Sarah is survived by her father Marshall Waters, twin sister Ellen, Ellen's husband Chuck and daughter Catherine.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Visitation will be at Holloman-Brown funeral home on Tidewater Drive from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on September 20. A church service will be held at Freemason Street Baptist Church on September 23 at 11 a.m. There will be a reception afterwards.
A graveside service will be held for her immediate family on Gwynn's Island on September 21.
