Solomon Teralle Rawls Obituary
Solomon Teralle Rawls

Chesapeake - Solomon "Teralle" Rawls (Lou) of Taylor Road, Chesapeake, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 9, 2018. He was born on May 31, 1961, to Doris Lee Blizzard and the late Sidney Nehemiah Rawls, Sr.

Teralle is a 1979 graduate of Forest Glen High School. After graduation, he worked with his father and brothers, as a general contractor, until his employment at Newport News Shipbuilding where he worked faithfully for 38 years.

At an early age, he became a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He was a member of the Hospitality Committee, and he visited the sick and shut-in often.

Teralle was very helpful to many in the community by performing various household and landscaping services alongside his brother, Eldon. He always had a very good sense of humor, making anyone around him laugh with his jokes. He was never at a loss for words.

He is survived by his wife, Janine Hicks Rawls (28 years) of Chesapeake and his two daughters, Crystal Janelle and Ciara Janay. Teralle was the rock of his family; the love that he has for his wife and daughters is never-ending. He is also survived by his mother, Doris Lee Blizzard Rawls of Suffolk; two sisters, Lydia Bailey (William) of Suffolk, Irene Harrison of Lawrenceville; three brothers, Sidney, Jr. (Alesia) of Franklin, Eldon (Marilyn), Kenny of Suffolk; aunts, Lelear R. Woodson, Arminta O. Rawls, Freddie Adkins of Suffolk and Louise Rawls of Southampton County; father-in-law, Roger Ronell Hicks; mother-in-law, Rosa B. Hicks; brother-in-law, Derwin Hicks (Margaret) of Leesburg, VA; sister-in-law, Valerie Spencer (David) of Germantown, MD, and Janice Sweat (Rev. Dr. Carl, Jr) of Suffolk; eight nephews, six nieces, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck, Road, Suffolk. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
