Chesapeake - Sue Thompson Stublen, 76, passed away July 9, 2018. Sue graduated from Churchland High School in the class of 1959. She was Drum Major in the Churchland High School band and often spoke of the good times on the band trips. A lot of good memories were made between Sue and her Mother as Sue took dancing lessons for several years at the Jean Ballance School of Dance. Sue was a member of the Portsmouth Junior Woman's Club and the Elizabeth River Circle CHKD. Sue worked for several prominent attorneys in the area after graduation from Churchland and retired as a paralegal from the City Attorney's office in the City of Portsmouth.

She was predeceased by her parents Orvin F. "Huck" Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 55 1/2 years Robert B. Stublen; four children, Julie S. Minter and husband Steven L. Minter, Neal C. Stublen and wife Anne P. Stublen, Christopher L. Stublen and Brian F. Stublen; six grandchildren, Steven and Matthew Minter, Andrew, William and Elizabeth Stublen of Leawood Kansas and Carly Stublen.

Sue was a wonderful Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She always put her family needs above her own. This is not Goodbye but Goodnight. We will all miss you. See you later in a much better place. We will love you forever.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Bon Secours Hospice program for all their wonderful help during these trying times, particularly Marcia Melquist and Deborah Gaines.

The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral Home, 3225 Academy Ave., Portsmouth, Va on July 15 between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Richard W. Liverman at the Loving Funeral Home on July 16 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Online condolences may be made at www.LovingFuneralHome.com.
