Vera Jean Clark of Virginia Beach, 84, died peacefully on January 7, 2019 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born on June 30, 1934 in Boyd, Texas to the late George D. and Effie Hollis. Vera is best known for being kind, generous, selfless, humble, and modest. She was a Christian.Vera attended Lake Worth High School in Texas where she was a cheerleader and elected football sweetheart. She was a Cub Scout den mother in Rhode Island. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, bowling on the OCS and Pax River mixed league with her husband, traveling to Texas to visit her family, spending weekends at Lake Gaston, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.She lived throughout the states as a Navy wife while raising her four children. She lived in Florida, California, Rhode Island, and Maryland. After settling in Virginia Beach, she worked at Haynes Furniture as a credit office manager for 23 years. Vera enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Arthur Ray Clark Jr. (CDR, USN, Ret), her sons, Robert (Geri) of Virginia Beach; Craig of Virginia Beach; Michael (Dana) of Conway, AR; daughter Karen Colna (Ted) of Virginia Beach; and grandchildren Kyle, Tim, and Brooke Colna; Kendall, Krista, and Austin Clark. A funeral will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 12 p.m. with visitation at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Princess Ann Memorial Park on 1110 N. Great Neck Road.
