William Green Sr.
Suffolk - William Thomas Green, Sr., eldest son of the late Thomas Cornell and Gertrude Carter Green passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013.
He was a former member of Elam Baptist Church in Charles City, Virginia. After moving to the Suffolk area, he joined New First Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until his demise.
"Green", as he was affectionately known to some and "Nit" to others, joined the United States Navy after graduating from Charles City High School in Charles City, Virginia and served for 20 years until he was honorably discharged.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Janice A. Green; a son William T. Green, Jr ,(Sherry); a daughter, Adriane G. Hicks, (Ricky); three grandchildren, Jamie N. Green, Jennifer N. Green, and Brian T. Hicks; one great-grandson, Darnell (DJ) Caldwell; brothers, Charles C. Green, (Rosita), and Daniel W. Green; one niece, Charlotte Green; two nephews, Thomas and Mark Green; one great nephew, DeAngelo; two step children, Denise Dickerson(Earl)and James Lamb,Jr. (Ronita), five step grandchildren, and eleven step great grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held, 1 p.m., Thursday, August 22, at New First Baptist Church, Taylorsville. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 Metropolitan Funeral Service, 5605 Portsmouth Blvd. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Veteran Cemetery.
