William Henry "Bill" Hobbs III Obituary
William Henry "Bill" Hobbs, III, 74, of Chesapeake, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 5, 2018, surrounded by family. Born in Norfolk, he was the son of the late William H. Hobbs, Jr. and Mable Crisp Hobbs. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Great Bridge High School. He retired as a radar technician from the Federal Aviation Administration. He later retired again from Chesapeake Public School System, where he was proud to drive a handicap bus. Bill was a long-time member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and actively served in various ministries. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marie Ellsworth Hobbs; daughters, Pamela Denise Hobbs, and Jennifer Hobbs Simmons and husband, Robert Brantley Simmons, Jr.; grandchildren, Trey Simmons and Grace Simmons; brothers, Jack Hart Hobbs and wife Linda, Harry Allen Hobbs and wife Hollie, and Arthur Scott Hobbs and wife Susan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Bill's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Great Bridge Baptist Church. Rev. C. Gordon Ellsworth, Jr., Dr. Will Langford, and Rev. Richard Castleberry will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Great Bridge Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, www.jdrf.org. Friends are invited to sign the online guest book at www.omanfh.com.
