Virginia Beach - Rodney Blair (Rod) McMillan, age 71 of Virginia Beach died July 29, 2014. He was born in Garrett, Indiana, on October 31, 1942 to Winifred (Snook) McMillan and Irwin B. McMillan. He graduated from Garrett High School in 1960 and Purdue University in 1965, with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He married Pamela (Koontz) Gedraitis in Peru, Illinois on June 14, 1985. They moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1994. He worked for American Hoechst (later Huntsman) in Peru, Illinois, before transferring to the Huntsman Chesapeake site. He retired from Nova Chemicals (which had acquired the Huntsman Chesapeake facility) in 2002, and for the last several years worked part-time for McKown Pressure Washing. He was an avid reader, enjoyed walks on the beach with Max and Cocoa, playing bar league Texas Hold'em, loved IndyCar and NASCAR racing, and hanging out with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Pam, his daughters Natalie (Kevin) Voke of Rochester Hills, MI and Terri (Mike) James of Springfield, IL; stepson Jason (Jenny) Gedraitis of Peoria, IL; mother Winifred (Snook) McMillan of Goshen, IN, brother David (Sharon) McMillan of Goshen, IN, sister Jodi Alwood of Montgomery AL; grandchildren Alexandra Frachowiak, Abby Voke, Victoria, Kate, and Ellie James, Matt, Ali, Jack, Julie, Luke, and Lucy Gedraitis; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, and beloved pets Max and Cocoa.He was preceded in death by his father, Irwin B. McMillan, and maternal and paternal grandparents, and beloved pets Hobo and Dusty.

A Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM and the family will receive and visit with family and friends starting at 9:00AM at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts.
