Obituary Condolences

Helen Christo Voliva

Virginia Beach - Helen Christo Voliva, 101, died at home on August 12, 2014. She was born in Phoebus, Virginia, raised in Norfolk and spent the last 76 years in Virginia Beach.

Helen was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Jesse Woodrow Voliva. She is survived by five children, Steve Voliva and wife Charlotte, Joan Voliva Kerns and husband Larry, David Voliva and wife Linda, Christine Voliva Helms and husband Jim and Debbie Voliva Duncan and husband Randy. She left behind 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; plus a large extended family.

Helen was a former member of Virginia Beach Church of God for over 50 years before she transferred to Azalea Garden Church of God. Her life was dedicated to two things: her family and her church. While she worked briefly out of the home, her time was spent serving God as a musician, Bible teacher, and Vacation Bible School Director. Her greatest joy came from being a full-time grandmother and great-grandmother babysitter.

A funeral service will be held at Azalea Garden Church of God located at 1541 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 1:00pm. Rev. Aubrey D. Maye will be officiating and will be assisted by Rev. Paul Eure, Rev. Dr. Rodney S. Vickers and Rev. Rick Hocker. Burial following the funeral will be at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at Azalea Garden Church of God on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Westminster Canterbury Hospice for the care given to our mom.
