Virginia Beach - Joanne Denise Martin, 49, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2016 in Virginia Beach.
Joanne was a beloved member of the community and was recently honored for twenty-five years of service for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
She is survived by her loving family including her husband, Wheeler A. Martin III; two children, Denise and Wes Martin; brother, Joseph Dixon; and sister, Susan Pittman all of Virginia Beach.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach. Memorial contributions may be made in Joanne's name to the Emmanuel Christian Church of God, 3572 Robinson Rd., Virginia Beach, VA, 23456. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.

Joanne was an incredible lady. Calm confident and strong at the same time. She loved her children very much and was very proud of each of them. She appreciated her husband and his support. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with her at NLES. A remarkable lady!!

Joanne was a Co-worker of mine for several years at Creeds. My heart stood still when I learned of her passing. My prayers are for her family at this time. I am so sorry for your loss.
