Virginia Beach - It is with great sorrow that the family of George H Perino, fondly known as Tony announces his passing on Aug. 29. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Kate Perino, his three daughters ; Deborah Lynn Meighen (Brian), Susan Kristine Perino, Rebecca Lee Evans (Timothy): stepchildren Eric (Elly) and Lauren Silverio: his four grandchildren; and his brother Carl F Perino. He was a loving son to his parents George H Perino and Margaret Perino and sister Judith Lynn Heath, now deceased.

A Lt Colonel in the US Army Corps, Tony was a veteran of Vietnam and served his country for 21 years. He had primary management responsibility for the US Army Airfield /Heliport C-E Support Program and WESTPAC.

Following military retirement Tony joined Sperry Flight Simulations Systems Reston, VA. He was the project manager for the US Navy F/A Operational Trainer Program. He then became CFO of SMA.

With a Phd in Public Policy from George Mason University he then became Professor of Systems Management, for the Defense Acquisition University at Ft Belvoiir.

Tony's passions were prolific. Family and friends headed the list. He taught business and finance at Norfolk State University. He conducted genealogical research using personal travel and investigative analysis. He was an avid tennis player at the Virginia Beach Tennis and Country Club, a voracious reader, a lover of music and a regular Fred Astaire.

Tony was warm and generous, kind and loving. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Tony's life will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. October 20th at the Spring Branch Community Church, 1500 N Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach and a luncheon to follow after at the Virginia Beach Tennis and Country Club.

Memorial donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
