Juanita T. Turner CHESAPEAKE - Juanita T. Turner went to be with the Lord July 25, 2008. She was born Dec. 31, 1937, and was the daughter of Julia E. Taylor and the late Robert M. Taylor of Chesapeake. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and daughter, she grew up in Norfolk. Her love for nursing and instructing her students in the art of nursing was her life's passion. She was a sweet person, always available to help, and loved by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Regina T. Sykes, Esquire, and husband Peter; her three sons, Graylin Taylor and wife Mary, Reuben Turner and wife Darlene, Rudolph Turner and wife Paulette, all of Suffolk; sister, Dr. Julia Avery Muse and husband Ronald of Suffolk; brother, Robert M. Taylor and wife Mildred of Chesapeake; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Patterson and husband William of Virginia Beach and Katherine Turner of Pittsburgh; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Phillip Turner and wife Barbara of Suffolk and Arelius Turner of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Amber Taylor, Janeen Turner, Jordan Sykes of Suffolk and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Juanita's life will be held by the Rev. Granger Flythe at noon Tuesday in Emanuel AME Church, 637 North St., 393-2259, Portsmouth. Entombment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing will be held Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. as well as a wake at Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham St., Portsmouth, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. ritual will take place.
