James P. Normile V
Virginia Beach - James Patrick Normile V, age 16, left his family too soon on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 and will never be forgotten. He was the precious son of Elizabeth and James Patrick Normile IV, and the brother of Gaela, and Jack and sister, Lola. He is survived by his grandparents, Lawrence and Susan Grayson of Kensington, Md.; Loretta and Colonel James Patrick Normile III of Olney, Md. and Nancy and Len Haggard of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his great-grandparents Linda and James Patrick Normile of Springfield, Mo.; and Mary Phelan of Brooklyn, N.Y., as well as nine aunts, nine uncles and 25 cousins.
He was known as an aggressive surfer who could cut through waves with tremendous speed and force. A lanky figure, James had such incredible leg strength that he was able to propel himself off the lips of waves several feet into the air. He was an award winning and avid surfer, talented member of the Kellam Knights soccer team, academic scholar, devoted and wonderful son and brother.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at St John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA. A reception will follow after the service in the commons area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to James or Elizabeth Normile, 600 22nd St, suite 100, att: Shannon Pride, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Rd chapel is handling arrangements.
