Jennifer J. Meyett-Peugh

Virginia Beach - Jennifer Jane Meyett-Peugh, 48, departed this life on Thursday, February 13, 2014.

Born August 19, 1965 to Margaret Pritchard Meyett and Frederick Elwood Meyett in Baltimore, MD, Jennifer grew up in a typical navy household, moving frequently throughout her childhood. She graduated from Green Run High School in Virginia Beach in 1983 and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Additionally, she held certifications in Painting and Decorating from the City and Guilds of London Institute, London England. Her first professional position was at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News where she was a Curatorial Technician/Art Handler.

Jennifer was a creative, charismatic free-spirit that travelled the world as a Scenic Project Manager in the Museum/Exhibition/Entertainment industry. She began this aspect of her career as a scenic painter and moved on to project management for various companies, including Hard Rock Café International, Universal Studios and Disney. Her life-long work in the museum and entertainment industry left a significant mark on the public. Jennifer's projects sought to expand people's knowledge and experience through engaging and captivating exhibits concerning science, history and popular culture.

Major projects in Jennifer's portfolio include: The Korean World Expo; Orlando Science Center: Body Zone, Showbiz Science, Imaginary Landscapes; Gettysburg National Battlefield Park; Reginald F. Lewis Maryland Museum of African American History and Culture; United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; The International Spy Museum; The United States WWI Museum at the Liberty Memorial; Mary Baker Eddy Museum and Library; Annapolis' History Quest!; Smithsonian Travelling Exhibition: 381 Days: The Montgomery Bus Boycott; National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian Institute: Our Peoples Gallery; Joliet Area Historical Museum: War Heroes Gallery; National Underground Railroad Freedom Center; Draper Museum of Natural History and The SPAM Museum.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Tony Peugh of Orlando FL; mother, Margaret P. Meyett of Virginia Beach; sister, Stephanie A. Meyett of Virginia Beach; and niece and great nephew, Somer B. and Gavin R. Williamson, and nephew, Colin D. Williamson of Virginia Beach and numerous extended family members.

She is predeceased by her father, Frederick E. Meyett, Jr.

A service to celebrate Jennifer's life will be held at Haygood United Methodist Church at 4713 Haygood Road in Virginia Beach on Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haygood United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
