Jorge Antezana Obituary

Jorge Francisco Antezana

North Carolina - Jorge Francisco Antezana went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2016. He was born on March 9, 1937 to loving parents Maruja and Victor Antezana in LaPaz, Bolivia.

Engineer, artist, philosopher, stamp collector, pepper-horticulturist, lover of ice-cold Honey Buns. Faithful. Honest. Selfless. All of these words describe this remarkable man, but the word that describes him best is "love". The Bible tells us that love is the greatest quality someone can possess. Like Jorge, love is many things. Love is patient, kind, unselfish, humble. Love keeps no record of wrongs. Without exception this is how Jorge lived his life. He loved his mighty God and he loved his family.

Considered by many to be the best storyteller south of the Mason-Dixon line, Jorge's life was a striking portrait of the Greatest Story Ever: "The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45). His story now has the happiest ending of all, because today he will sit at the table of his King Jesus and hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Wise in a foolish world, steady in the midst of fear, a man whose home became a home to others, a man who loved what was unloveable, and a man whose last name never failed to confound people, Jorge will be deeply missed.

Jorge was Viejo to Margui, and Pop to Rose & Dave, Coco & Carol, Guigus & Linda. He was brother to Guillermo, Maria Elena, and Eliana. He was Grandpa to Vincent & Megan, Hannah & Jason, David & Lauren, Matthew, Sam & Faye, Chris, Gabby & Jesse, Domo, and Steven, and Double-Pop to Davy, Keri, Ransom, Karson, and Hatcher.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 6 at 4pm at Southside Baptist Church, 917 Carolina Rd., Suffolk, VA, 23434. A reception will follow the service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers and in memory of Jorge, you would make a tax-deductible donation to support the missionary work of Hannah & Jason Connor at iliteam.org/connor, or by mail to: International Leadership Institute, 524 Tanner St., Carrollton, GA 30117, United States.

Dear friends, I am so sorry to learn of your recent loss on my daughter's 12th birthday. We lost my husband of 26 years on the 20th, so we know what You all are experiencing also. Like You, we have a large family with 8 children. My love to Mrs. Antezana, Guilliermo, Coco, Rosita, and the rest of You. God bless and be with You. Mr. Antezana was dearly loved and respected by my parents, Jim and Ruth, and my sisters, Anna, Susanne, and Jami. He will missed by all who knew him.

Our love to you, Margui, and your dear family. Although we are sad that we will not see Jorge and hear his kind voice, we rejoice that he has run the race set before him with faithfulness to his Lord Jesus Christ. We rejoice that he is in the presence of the King of Kings. May God's love and grace surround you.
