Lillias R. McCormick
Virginia Beach - Lillias R. McCormick (nee Matteson) passed away November 24, 2017, in the presence of loved ones. She was born in 1934 in Coventry, R.I. to Ray C. and Helen F. Matteson, and enjoyed an adventure-filled childhood. Lillias was a graduate of New England Conservatory and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, and a lifelong piano teacher. She was a member of the Tidewater Music Teacher's Forum, as well as the affiliated state and national organizations. She served on several boards and held many positions of leadership in the fiield of music education. She also enjoyed working with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts while her children were young. Lillias was predeceased by her husband, George, as well as her son George (Hap) and her grandson Matthew. Survivors include her daughter Margie McCormick, her son Ray C. McCormick (Wanona), 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 17th at 1 pm at Wycliffe Presbyterian Church, and a reception will follow.
