Bobby Gene Oakley Sr., 85, of Mount Washington, passed away at Baptist Health on Thursday, May 6, 2021, with his family by his side.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army, as well as the National Guard. He was a retiree of Wheeling Corrugating Co., where he worked as a tin man for more than 30 years. Bobby enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and throwing horseshoes.
Bobby and his wife, Alma, also fancied square dancing. He was an all-around great man, who will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mary Whiteside Oakley; his son, Barry Dean Oakley; and siblings, Glenda Willis and Billy Oakley.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Alma Oakley; children, Bobby Gene Oakley Jr. of Louisville and Benita Gay Oakley of Shepherdsville; grandchildren, Austin Crowley and Amber Oakley; along with a great-grandchild, Ryla Oakley.
